Student Ambassador Spotlight: Milo Campbell
Hi! I’m Milo Campbell and I’m a sophomore planning to graduate in 2025. I’m double majoring in Studio Art and Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Why did you choose Western?
I chose Western because the community was super welcoming, and it has the most beautiful campus I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t imagine myself going anywhere else.
What do you like about Western?
I love how many options there are. I feel like I could become anything I wanted to be at Western, and yet it doesn’t feel too big. It has all of the resources of a large public university, but to me it still feels like everyone knows each other and is supporting each other.
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class right now is Linguistic Anthropology with Dr. Judy Pine. It’s such a fascinating class, I can’t stop talking about it to all my friends. I start every conversation with “You know, in my Linguistic Anthropology class we’re learning about-“ and they all go “We KNOW, Milo!” I love it.
How have scholarships made a difference for you?
I have been the recipient of two scholarships, and they meant the world to me. I was able to do field research at the Shannon Point Marine Research Center as part of the Marine Science Scholars program that I received a scholarship for, and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever had the privilege to be a part of.
What would you like to say to a someone who has made a gift to support Western students and programs?
Thank you. So much. It’s because of you that we can have such an incredible community here on campus, and why I spend all of my time bragging to my family about how great it is here. I seriously can’t thank you enough.
What do you do when you aren’t in class?
I go downtown with my friends, or I make art. I love to draw and paint!
Where is your happy place either on campus or in Bellingham?
Definitely the arboretum. I’m constantly hiking through there, listening to all of the bird species we have in our area.
What are your professional dreams and goals?
I’m planning on becoming a Speech Language Pathologist after I get my Master’s degree, and hopefully working in a clinic helping kids feel confident in their speech.
