Become a Volunteer
Share Your Talent
As you know, a successful journey through Western doesn't happen without help, whether it's an internship, a conversation with a mentor, or advocacy for Western with our elected leaders in Olympia. We appreciate our volunteers, and our students flourish best when our alumni engage with them in meaningful ways.
Join an Advisory Board
Each college has an advisory board made up of alumni, companies and community members who help advise the programs and produce support through funding, internships and mentoring. Many board members serve as guest lecturers and assist students with classroom projects. Interested? Email alumni@wwu.edu to get started.
Become a Social Media Ambassador
Want to inspire fellow alumni, friends and family to support your favorite department, club, team or program at WWU? The Alumni Office is seeking volunteers to amplify Western's on social media with personal outreach by posting and sharing from networking events, fundraisers, etc. Gathering with alumni friends? Tag the WWU Alumni Facebook page or find us on Twitter at @WWUAlumni or Instagram at @wwu_alumni. Have an idea of how to include social media outreach in a way that benefits Western? Please contact us at alumni@wwu.edu or through Facebook. In addition, every WWU Give Day, we seek social media ambassadors to encourage friends and fellow alumni to support Western. Make sure your email is up-to-date in your community profile to ensure you receive ambassador communications for Give Day!
Mentor a WWU Student
Our students benefit greatly from mentorship opportunities provided by alumni. Whether it's a day of job shadowing, a Zoom call, or an internship opportunity, we would be happy to connect you with students and put eager students in touch with you. Email us and we'll make it happen.

WE Connect is a user-friendly online platform where you can harness the power of the WWU alumni network. You can personalize your experience according to your interests, goals, location, and more. With WE Connect, you can mentor students, give resume advice, join groups, post job and internship opportunities, connect with other alumni in your field, and engage with like-minded members of the WWU community!
Provide an Internship
Many programs at Western partner with businesses and organizations to provide internships for students who receive college credit. WWU consistently ranks among the nation's top regional public universities evaluated annually by U.S. News & World Report. Diversify and revitalize your recruitment pipeline by connecting with Western’s innovative, thoughtful, and creative students. Contact Career Services by phone or at careers@wwu.edu to learn more, or reach out to us to get started.
Western Advocates
One of the most valuable ways you can help Western is by being a voice for fully funding higher education in Olympia. Western Advocates is a volunteer program for those who are comfortable providing public comment and testimony, emailing and visiting with elected officials, and paving the way for a brighter future for our programs, departments, and students. There's no one better to represent Western than those who know and love it best—you, our alumni. Learn more about the program and how to sign up, or contact us.
Host an Event
Would you like to host a gathering of alumni, WWU families or students at your house or a local establishment? We're always looking for enthusiastic alumni and supporters to help WWU community members connect with each other out in the world.
