In this talk we will examine the role of the instructor from personal social positioning with pedagogy that requires engaging with and opposing oppressive forces. We will also closely examine the social context of today's higher education students, both before and during college in order to better position ourselves to design educational experiences for equity.

Bryan Dewsbury

Dr. Bryan Dewsbury

Keynote Speaker

Bryan Dewsbury is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences and Principal Investigator of the Science Education And Society (SEAS) research program. He is also co-Principal Investigator of the University of Rhode Island MARC program. His research program studies the social context of learning in formal and informal education settings. He conducts faculty development across North America helping institutions reformat their practices toward greater inclusion and equity. He is also a fellow of the John N. Gardner Institute where he assists member institutions on the adoption of inclusive practices.
