A message from student Bec Bennett

Dear friend, 

My name is Bec Bennett, and I am incredibly proud to be a graduate student and student-athlete at Western Washington University. I wanted to share a little about why Western means so much to me, and why this community truly changed my life.

Several years ago, a series of difficult events turned my world upside down. I stepped away from school, from sport, and from the future I had imagined for myself. When I found my way to Western, I didn’t just find a university, I found people who genuinely cared. Faculty, staff, coaches, and classmates believed in me at a time when I was still learning how to believe in myself. With their support, and with the help of scholarships from donors, I was able to return to school, refocus on my goals, and rebuild my life.

On February 11, Western students across campus celebrate our annual We Love WWU Day, a day dedicated to school spirit, community, and showing gratitude for the support that makes a Western education possible.
