Field Notes
from Western

At Western, learning doesn’t always stay in the classroom.

These stories highlight some of the experiences, discoveries and opportunities that show what a Western education can look like.

Get the story on six students who are studying abroad on their own projects, space science students who met Bill Nye in Washington D.C., prize-winning playwrights working directly with WWU Theatre students, and meet Ainsley: a student who tells you about her Western experience in her own words.

Meet Ainsley Allen

A student with long hair and a WWU sweatshirt smiles in front of a tree with yellow leaves

Ainsley tells us about her experience at Western.

Ainsley is an Elementary Education student in the Woodring College of Education.

Opportunities like these help students experience new places, encounter different perspectives and bring what they learn back to their work at Western. The stories they live help them discover where their paths can lead.

Every Western story looks different,
opening doors to new experiences
that shape student lives.
You can be part of a student's story.
