Description
The Washington State Supreme Court will have a big role to play in Washington's future in the coming few years. On February 19, join the Western community in the Wilson Library Reading Room as the justices participate in a special Q & A discussing the Role and Functions of the Court. Coffee and cookies will be provided.
On February 20, come listen to the justices as they hear two cases: State v. Thompson No. 103338-9, in which Thompson was charged with murdering Gates-Jackson, unsuccessfully sought to subpoena Gates-Jackson's medical records at trial, and Gates-Jackson was allowed to intervene in Thompson's to oppose his appeal. Should the estate be allowed to intervene in Thompson's appeal?
In the second case, State v. Abrams No. 103058-4, the question is: "Is a person who has met the requirements of their sentence eligible to receive a certificate of discharge when they are still incarcerated on a separate conviction?"
Join us for two days of stimulating and exciting conversation and a peek into how our Supreme Court functions.
