Memories of a Suburban Ind'n | John Feodorov is the first full survey spanning nearly five decades of the artist’s career. Working in many media from painting, sculpture, and installation to film and music, Feodorov’s postmodernist artwork often satirically divulges ironies and atrocities about capitalism, consumerism, environmentalism, and religion, yet is also poignantly personal and in some cases autobiographical. Informed by his experience growing up in the suburbs east of Los Angeles, Feodorov also was close with his Diné family on the Navajo reservation. The disparate values and beliefs that the artist experienced between suburban life and time on the reservation evoked serious questions that echo throughout much of the work. Feodorov is the Associate Professor of Art at Fairhaven College at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.
